Whitewater Valley Marine Corps League Auxiliary December 2009 Newsletter The Auxiliary is participating in the Richmond Christmas Parade and the Christmas In Centerville Lighted Parade. The Auxiliary is celebrating the 62nd anniversary of Toys for Tots with a parade float that includes a toy train running on train tracks. The Toys for Tots train logo was designed by Walt Disney personally. The Auxiliary encourages everyone to donate new unwrapped gifts for the 2009 Toys for Tots distribution. The Auxiliary participated in the Richmond State Hospital patient Christmas Gift program. We assembled and donated three hundred gift bags filled with personal hygiene items and tied off with candy canes for the patients. The annual KICKS 96 Kash for Kids event at Fricker's raised $4717 for Toys for Tots. Local businesses donated items which were raffled by the KICKS 96 team or sold at auction by Roger Richert. Dot Foods donated $1000 and Robert Lee sent $1000 raised from his unit in Afghanistan. One of the highlights of the evening was when KICKS 96 Angie Fox announced Dave and Kim Parker's prize: their son, LCpl David Parker USMC, arrived and surprised them at Fricker's, on leave after his recent deployment to Iraq! XEROX is doing something really cool again this year! If you go to this website, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services; and it only takes a few seconds to do it. PITNEY BOWES and the American Red Cross have joined forces with Walter Reed Medical Center to distribute holiday cards sent by Americans to wounded soldiers. If you'd like to participate you can send a card to: We Support You During Your Recovery! c/o American Red Cross PO Box 419 Savage, MD 20763-0419 Thanks for taking the time to support our military!
