During the past couple of years they have been able to hold our membership and our financial situation stable and above our average even though our economy has dropped; great job. We’ve got off to a smooth transition with the installation of our new officers and staff and will do our best to work with our members, the auxiliary, and motorcycle club to bring a closer working relationship and atmosphere with everyone. I personally want to thank everyone for their support and hope to continue seeing everyone at the club. Remember our troops and families in your prayers and also our sick ones. "Semper Fi" Commandant, Bill McFarland House Committee Report The club seems to be doing well through the transition of officers. I believe it’s because of the league and club first attitude, of our going and in coming officers. As some of you know the Gaming Commissioner Investigator was here Wednesday, April 28, and we were out of line on a few things. We are making sure the problems are being taken care of so we will be in line with the State. On April 30, there was a meet and greet for our newest Marine, PFC Kara Johnson, and it was successful. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Last, I want to thank everyone who has been helping me get my boots on the ground. Gung Ho & "Semper Fi" Sr. House Committee, Larry Parks Chaplain’s Report What a month. New officers, changes in policies, changes in auxiliary, changes in motorcycle club, new members, lost some older ones, and some old friends came back. So easy to get lost in all the confusion. Let us stop and take a moment to remember what we’re all here for…Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works. Hebrews 10:24 Last Friday I went down to veteran’s memorial park. As I walked and looked at all the monuments I felt a great sadness as well as a great feeling of pride. Sad that so many gave their lives and I never had the opportunity to meet them and proud that so many came from this County. Let’s not forget Memorial Day is this month. It’s not about the first summer holiday, picnics, or races it’s about them: all of the veterans from the Revolutionary War to Iraq and Afghanistan. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends John 15:13. So take time out of your busy day this month and remember how so many gave all so you can be free to Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness. Thanks to all who have served and are serving. Take a little time to say a prayer for all our members who are sick and/or in the hospitals. Hope to see all of you soon let me leave you with this: let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 Chaplain, Mark Minor Sr. Auxiliary Report We are beginning a new year. I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank you to everyone who has the confidence in me to continue with our outstanding Auxiliary. I would also like to congratulate and thank all of the auxiliary members who have accepted an office on my staff. I could not do it without you! Regular meeting is scheduled for May 16, 2010 @ 4:15 pm. Please save all your coupons and bring them in for us to send out, more information will be passed on when we have adopted a base. Continue to watch for more information on when we will be starting this project and hope to see everyone who can help. Due to Indiana Gaming Commission laws changing as of December 2009; we have had to discontinue the daily drawings, dice, three of our weekly drawings, and both of the monthly drawings. We will still have pull-tab tickets at the bar for sale as well as the NASCAR board. In place of the drawings we will have one weekly drawing on Saturday night at 10 p.m., cost to sign this book will be $1.00 and you will need to sign the book in numeric order since we will not be using member numbers any longer for the drawings. It will be based on the number next to your name on the book signed. Unlike previous drawings this drawing will always have a winner. If the first person drawn is not there, they will receive half, in which case we will then draw a second number. If the second person is present they will receive the second half. If they are not present, they will split the second half of the money with the building fund. We will also have one monthly drawing that will be drawn the Friday night before the Monthly meeting at 8 p.m. The cost to sign this book will be $5.00 and you can only purchase one number. After the completion of the monthly drawing, all numbers will be reopened for sale to all members on a first come first serve basis, starting on Saturday. Once all 60 numbers are sold the monthly drawing will be closed. The pot for the monthly drawing will be no greater than $300.00. The total of this drawing will be based on how many of the 60 numbers have been sold. Please bear with us as we are currently attempting to find other forms of gambling to bring into our club that will follow the Indiana Gaming laws. All these changes will be effective as of Sunday, May 9, 2010. Reminder to all Auxiliary members that the first Sunday of every month we cook for the motorcycle clubs Benefit Ride. If you are available and want to help show up around noon, help is always welcome. Want to let all Auxiliary members know that we are still, at this time, doing Friday Night Dinners and bar bingo at the club from 6pm-??. If you are available and want to help show up around 5:30, again help is always welcome. If you cannot help physically, we do need desserts to serve with the dinner. So if you feel up to baking something that would be GREAT. We do need to have the desserts by 5:30 so we can make sure we have enough to serve.
