The meetings take place the fourth Sunday of each month at 1530 hrs (3:30). Lately the attendance has been low, and this is the time to ask questions or make complaints, or make suggestions, so come on down to the club and attend. Ann H. finally contacted Major B.A. Murray (Ret.) about Toys for Tots, and he is working with us so that we will be on board this year. Ann Hunsinger and Cathy Helton will be going to Leesburg, Va. this Sep. for the Toys for Tots conference. Friday night dinners are still happening, if anyone would like to do a meal or help, contact Connie Gross or myself and we will schedule you in. We have been trying different activities at random and it doesn't always make it to the newsletter, so please ask while you are in the club or look at the boards, we always hang flyers, or write upcoming events on the board above the coffee pot. We had a few Members that showed up at all three (3) Memorial Day events, the ones that didn't show missed out . I would like to close and remind everyone to PLEASE keep our Troops and their family members in your prayers. Commandant, Bill McFarland HOUSE COMMITTEE REPORT No report at this time. New report in next Newsletter CHAPLAIN'S REPORT One day I was at the club and as I sat at the bar, I looked around at all the patrons setting at the bar and tables and realized what a crowd of great people we have. I seen purple heart recipients, veterans from many different wars, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Mothers and Fathers of veterans, sons and daughters of those that served, and I thought of a scripture I had read. Where for seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sun which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us-Hebrews 12:1. Great are the things done by good people not by Great Men. Doing great things is what makes one Great. We have so many who have witnessed great things and sometimes we forget that. Sometimes we forget what that person sitting in that seat around us has done or what that father, mother, son, daughter or grandparent has sacrificed or given up for God and Country. In the Bible God used simple men and women to do Great things; like a sheep herder, farmers, slaves, and carpenters. Not Kings, Queens, or Politicians. It's not what one is that makes one great but what one does. So I thank all of you for letting be in your company. We may not all agree at all times but we all have the same goal in mind. Let me leave you with this, no matter what or who you believe in or don't believe in this verse is true and applies to all...for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap-Galatians 6:7. Mark A Minor Sr., Chaplain MCL AUXILIARY REPORT We had a great turn out for Convention in Indianapolis, we learned some new things and met some new people. Congtats to our Whitewater Valley Ladies for their new positions in State office; Kim Parker is new Senior Vice, Theresa Clark is Secretary, and Kay South is on the Scholarship Committee. Don't forget about the Motorcycle Benefit rides on the first Sunday of every month, except July which will be on the 11th. July Meeting will be at 5:30 p.m.. This will be held at MCL Cafeteria, so make a note. We will be doing a monthly dinner and bingo on the fourth Friday of the month. Thanks to all who participated in the gift bags. Great fun and we didn't do to bad either. Keep coming up with ideas so that we can continue to do what we do best. Thank you so much for your support! Erin Haskett, Auxiliary Member IMPORTANT INFORMATION The following was offered at the 2010 Central Division Conference by National Junior Vice Commandant Jim Tuohy, and I thought it was worth reading. ~~ HOW TO KILL AN ORGANIZATION ~~ 1. Don't participate beyond paying your dues, let them handle things-then complain that members have no voice in management. 2. Decline all committee appointments and offices-you're too busy. Then offer vociferous advice on how things should be done. 3. If appointed to a committee, don't work; it's a courtesy appointment- then complain that the organization has stagnated. 4. If you attend meetings, don't initiate new ideas-then play "devil's advocate" to those submitted by others. 5. Don't rush to pay your dues-they're too high anyway-then complain about poor management. 6. Don't encourage others to become members-that's selling-then complain that membership is not growing. 7. Don't read the newsletter or other communications-they're not important-then complain you're not being kept informed. 8. Don't volunteer your talents-that's ego fulfillment-then complain that you're never asked and never appreciated. 9. Have faith in no one and nothing. Don't take any chances on untried procedure-you're not a gambler; let someone else put their reputation on the line-then be sure to enjoy the benefits from another's leap of faith. 10. If by chance, the organization grows, despite your lack of contributions, grasp every opportunity to tell the young members how tough it was and how hard you worked in the old days to bring the group to its present level of success!
