WHITEWATER VALLEY MARINE CORPS LEAGUE AUXILIARY

Attendance at the August meeting was disappointing, but that’s not unusual 
during the vacation season, so we’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the 
next monthly meeting on Sunday, September 12th at 2:00 PM.  In the meantime, we 
thought we would send an update to let you know what’s new with the Auxiliary 
and invite everyone to participate.  Your help is always appreciated!

We are still participating in the Overseas Coupon Program.  We adopted a Marine 
base in Japan.  In July, we sent $153.15 food & $696.27 non-food coupons 
totaling $849.42.  The total to date: $12,331.97.  Remember to bring in your 
manufacturer’s coupons!  

OPERATION CARE PACKAGE: We will meet at the League at 6:00 pm to go shopping for 
care packages on Thursday, September 9th.  On Friday evening, September 10th, we 
will assemble the care package items for mailing.  Postage for each box is 
$12.95 so, in addition to purchasing supplies, we need to raise more funds.  The 
Auxiliary will be sponsoring its own poker run to raise money for our care 
package program.  The Auxiliary Care Package Ride will be Saturday, September 
11th.  Registration is at 10:00 am.  The ride begins at Noon.  The Auxiliary 
will prepare and serve food for the riders.  The cost to ride is $10 and 
passengers are $5. There will be door prizes, raffles, 50/50s and top poker hand 
prizes.  ALL proceeds will be used to send care packages to our troops overseas.

We will have a booth at Oktoberfest at the Depot on September 25.  This is a new 
project so, if you have never tended a booth, this could be a good time to try 
it out!  

We will have a Lia Sophia jewelry fundraiser at the Club on Tuesday, September 
28th at 7:00 PM.  This is a great opportunity to do some Christmas shopping, 
find birthday gifts, and choose jewelry to wear at the Birthday Ball.  

The Auxiliary will have a booth at Fourth Street Fair on the first weekend in 
October.  That Sunday, there will also be a poker run at the Club, so we will 
need extra volunteers!

Department of Indiana Fall Conference:   OCT 16th and OCT 17th at the Hilton 
Garden Inn in Merrillville, Indiana.  Sponsored by Howlin Mad Detachment.  
Everyone who plans to attend must pay a $20 registration deposit by August 
31st.  

Annual auxiliary memberships expire this month.  You can pay your $22 annual 
renewal at the club in person or by mail (200 South Ninth Street).  Make checks 
payable to MCLA.
